The video game industry is one of the industries experiencing a rapid growth in the business, with its subdivision and somewhat standalone industry eSports making a giant wave with spectator entertainment. The boom in the business has seen some financial advancements, with market size value to be estimated at about $1.79 billion in 2023 from $1.1 billion it was valued at in 2020. There are some factors driving the growth of esports, and one that is in conversation in recent times is the involvement of artificial intelligence (AI).

We will highlight a number of benefits that the esports industry has received upon the involvement of AI:

Competition management

With the use of AI-powered competition management software, aspects of providing valuable insights for player performance as well as automating many repetitive tasks can be done in a much shorter period of time. AI can also go further with aspects such as detection of malicious activity within games and saving users' time while they review matches. This helps to free up more time for the player while they focus on other aspects such as player communication and marketing.

Player development

With AI-based training tools  players can be helped to improve their skills across many or every aspect of the game such as shooting accuracy and decision making. With these tools, gameplay would not require expensive equipment or expert coaches at hand oftentimes.

Fan engagement and experience

With this aspect, AI can personalize the viewing experience for each fan by analyzing their preferences, viewing histories as well as other data points. This makes it easier for viewers to have their content filtered into what is of their interest rather than having to scour through content that may not be of interest to them.

Branding and marketing

Just like many other fields, talent may not be enough as you would have to make the extra effort in getting your name out there (marketing oneself), and this is very applicable for the world of eSports. With AI tools such as Gemmo.AI, you can create custom graphics and videos to promote yourself –  channel and all – to help you gain sponsorships or promote current sponsors.

Improved coaching and training methods

Coaches through AI can improve on their coaching methods with the help of AI tracking their players’ practice sessions, and providing the feedback to coaches on how to improve their performances. Player performances can be spotted overtime as AI can help coaches identify players struggling with certain aspects of their gameplay and then proceed to giving assistance in these areas.

More to be covered as AI on a journey of providing tremendous assistance to the eSports industry.
